Chapter15:Heritage
It didnât take near as long for Taryn to recover as Ranir had expected. The next day he back to full health. Ranir made his way back to infirmary. During the day, the corridors were brilliantly filled with color that bled through the stained glass windows. It seemed like an entirely path than he had taken in the darkness. Twice Ranir opened the wrong door, assuming he was confident in his memory.
After he finally reached the infirmary door, he stepped inside to find it empty with the exception of The witch doctor. Ranir bellowed our, âWhere is Taryn Ontaga?â
He must have startled the woman in white because she nearly jumped off the floor. âHe was dismissed already. He made a full recovery. In fact, I believe he went searching for,â she said.
âAh. Alright, well I guess I will try to find him then.â Ranir turned and exiting to the left this time. He made a straight path to Tarynâs quarters. Taryn stayed in a separate wing of The Emphyrius with the other fire mages. He wasnât sure they had segregated in such a manner. Perhaps it was because they had something in common.
Ranir realized that he hadnât went left from the infirmary before, and found himself turned around again. Every turn looked as foreign as the last.
It seemed like an hour had passed when he finally fell head on into the dining hall. âHow big is damn place?â he asked a man passing by. He laughed and shrugged his shoulders. Ranir thought it was amazing that he had been traveling in and around the keep for nearly half a year, and was still getting lost. It was a true testament to the design and the workers that built the place.
From the dining hall he knew which hallway to jog down. He finally reached Tarynâs room and found him sitting in a chair, staring blankly out the window. âTaryn?â Ranir approached cautiously.
The fire mage leaped to his feet and rushed to Ranir. He grabbed him in a deep hug and squeezed. Laughter filled the room as two long lost friends were reunited. âRanir!Am I glad to see you!â he yelled.
âTaryn what happened to you? Where have you been this whole time? Are you alright?â Ranir hammered away with questions.
Taryn pointed to the chairs and said, âSit. I have much to tell you.â As they seated themselves, Taryn threw a fireball under a kettle in the fireplace. Ranir realized instantly that he didnât speak a word. âHow did you do that? You didnât cast a spell!â
Taryn simply smiled. âLike I said, I have much to tell you. Where to start?â
âHow about getting lost in the teleport,â said Ranir sharply. âRight, well when I came through the port, you were gone and I was lost for a minute. I figured out quickly that I was at the South Gate of Killiad. I tried to get in but it was sealed. Some sort of ward blocked me from burning a hole into the walls.â
âI noticed. I jumped over the wall Nd crash landed,â said Ranir amusingly.
